Ontario's Emergency Public Warning System

Driving home during Wednesday's erratic weather, I was reminded of a wonderfully simple but effective tool that can help save lives.  Ontario’s Emergency Public Warning System provides timely and accurate information to Ontario residents, businesses and visitors during an emergency. The system allows Ontarians to receive three types of warnings – Red Alerts, Emergency Information Advisories and Tornado Warnings.  Growing up in southern Ontario, I was used to seeing the warnings of storms on Buffalo television stations through the emergency broadcast system but this was the first time that I heard a warning on a local radio station while in my car.
