Collisions involving pedestrians and vehicles are becoming increasingly common.  A proper investigation requires not only traditional accident reconstructions methodologies but also the perspective of a biomechanical analysis of the pedestrian's injuries and involvement.  Many factors are at play in these types of collisions; vehicle speed, driver and pedestrian visibility, environmental distractions, pedestrian speed and behaviour and the results are seen in damage to the vehicle, injuries to occupants and the pedestrian, resting place of the pedestrian and vehicle.  Only a complete analysis taking into account all of these factors and results can lead to a proper report.  The entire article was published in the January 2012 issue of the OIAA's Without Prejudice magazine.
