Our Community

Arcon believes that supporting the communities in which it operates and encouraging its employees to participate in events and organizations in the communities in which they live creates a better world.  We celebrate the diversity of the initiatives that our employees support.

The variety of organizations, events and activities that Arcon & its employees are involved with are a reflection of the spectrum of worthy causes that surround us.  Some of these causes are national in scope but many are local, some have existed for years and others are just spreading their wings, some benefit youth, others benefit a more broadly based population and some benefit our animal friends.  Whether our participation is through a donation of time or money, the goal is the same; improve the quality of life for others.

Education

Arcon is a proud supporter of Fanshawe College's Insurance Business Program as a bursary sponsor and through educational presentations. Another worthwhile educational initiative that benefits from the mentorship of one of our engineers is the "First Lego League", an elementary school extra-curricular club where students build and program robots based on Lego kits. We have also hosted high school students for half-days to let them get practical experience in what professional engineers do after graduation.

Charities

Some of the charities that Arcon and its employees support through sponsorships, donation of tickets and participation in fundraising events include:

  • Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (Ontario)
  • Walk A Mile in Her Shoes / Women and Childrens Shelter of Barrie (Huronia)
  • LotsaDogs Rescue (Durham Region)
  • United Way of Greater Toronto (GTA)
  • Big Brothers / Big Sisters (Toronto)

Associations (Not-For-Profit)

Not-for-profit associations provide an incredible array of opportunities for us to grow personally & professionally while helping others.  Whether coaching hockey or swimming, organizing a quilters guild, providing Board-level guidance to an organization, sponsoring youth athletes & teams, participating in fundraising events for an association's designated charity or providing clothing to send to remote communities, Arcon and its employees are actively making a difference in our industry and our our communities.  Arcon and its employees participate in the following industry associations and events as members & sponsors:

  • Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association & its local Chapters
  • London Insurance Professionals Association
  • Toronto Insurance Womens Association
  • Canadian Defense Lawyers
  • Ontario Trial Lawyers Association
  • Canadian Association of Fire Investigators
  • Canadian Association of Technical Accident Investigators & Reconstructionists
  • National Association of Subrogation Professionals

Environmental

Arcon actively encourages its employees and suppliers to review and decrease their environmental footprint both at work and at home.  With purchasing guidelines that promote 'buying green', corporate blue bin program and a "lights out when you're out" initiative that reminds employees to turn off lights in rooms that are not in use, Arcon is doing its part.  Employees of Arcon regularly participate in Community Clean-Up days in the communities in which they live.
