May 05, 2016

In this entertaining and informative article, Arcon's Jillian Leblanc uses statistics and her experience as a Collision Reconstructionist to dispel urban myths regarding the use of or rather the lack of use of seatbelts by a portion of the Canadian population. "Seatbelt use in Canada leaped from a mere 26% in 1980 to 96% in 2011. A large part of this increase can be attributed to seatbelt laws. These laws began to trickle into provincial legislation in 1976, with the last province jumping on board in 1987.  The increase also may be due to changing societal standards.  Still though, that last 4% of people persist in coming up with reasons not to wear their seatbelt.  Do they know something we don’t?".
